Candi Sewu is located in Bugisan Village Bener, Dukuh, Prambanan, Klaten Regency, Central Java province. From the city of Yogyakarta in distance about 17 km to the Solo. Sewu Temple is a temple cluster that is located adjacent to the Prambanan Temple, i.e. approximately 800 meters to the South of arca Rara Jongrang.

Candi Sewu is located adjacent to Prambanan, Sewu Temple, so the current included in the tourist area of Prambanan Temple. Candi Sewu has 4 gates leading to the outer Court, i.e. to the East, North, West, and South, each guarded by a pair of a Dvarapala statues faces each other. The main temple was built from andesite has the main entrance on the East side so it can be said that the main temple is facing East.
